Background
Having worked in the IT industry for over ten years I have come across many supervisors and managers who were tasked with managing my IT work. Many of them were non-IT or non-technical people. As an example I have been managed by a finance person and on different occasions by HR persons.
As you will appreciate, this is not the ideal situation, but many small companies find themselves having to do this because of the limited financial resources at their disposal and ultimately adopt this undesirable management style.
This guide aims to give these non-technical managers some advice and guidance on how to manage IT personnel and resources in a coherent and acceptable way thus reaching high levels of IT maturity in their organizations, with the limited resources at hand.
